The name Solen scalprum Gould, 1850 is in current use for a widely distributed species of bivalve assigned to the genus Cultellus. The name is a junior primary homonym of Solen scalprum King, 1832. The name Solen scalprum Gould, 1850 should be replaced by its junior synonym Cultellus subellipticus Dunker, 1862.

A new species of the camaenid genus Kenyirus is described from Baling, Kedah, Peninsular Malaysia. Kenyirus balingensis, new species, has a thin subglobose‐trochoidal shell, with a depressed apex. It resembles Kenyirus sheema Foon, Tan & Clements, 2015, in shell shape, but can be distinguished by its much smaller size, proportionately lower spire, presence of an indistinct groove just above the suture, and a more prominent peripheral keel. Kenyirus balingensis also has a generally uniform...

The genus‐group name Eufistulana Eames, 1951, is in current and prevailing usage for a group of gastrochaenid bivalves. Eufistulana Eames, 1951, was proposed as a replacement name for the preoccupied Fistulana Bruguière, 1789, with Teredo clava Gmelin, 1791, as the type species. Teredo clava Gmelin, 1791, is a teredinid and is the type species of the genus Uperotus Guettard, 1770. It is clear that the original type species, Teredo clava Gmelin, 1791, was misidentified. In order to preserve...

The non‐indigenous Cryptozona siamensis is reported for the first time from Singapore. This terrestrial snail was discovered from the site of a former plant nursery that borders the Central Catchment Nature Reserve, and is believed to have been accidentally introduced through horticultural trade activities. Cryptozona siamensis is a potential plant pest and is known to be a host of the parasite that causes human eosinophilic meningitis, a potentially life‐threatening condition. Urgent...

Mieniplotia gen. nov. is established for Buccinum scabrum O.F. Müller, 1774, which is currently assigned to the unavailable genus-group name Pseudoplotia Forcart, 1950. Nomenclatural notes on the other genus-group names that Buccinum scabrum has been historically assigned are provided. Mieniplotia gen. nov. currently contains only the type species, Mieniplotia scabra (O.F. Müller, 1774), comb. nov.

The widespread calyptraeid Crepidula walshi Reeve, 1859, is currently assigned by most authors to the genus Syphopatella Lesson, 1831 (also incorrectly spelt as âSiphopatellaâ). An analysis of the type species of Syphopatella Lesson, 1831, shows that this species should be assigned to the genus Ergaea H. Adams & A. Adams, 1854, instead. The original description, authorship, spelling, and two synonyms of Crepidula walshi Reeve, 1859, are also discussed.

A naturally formed spherical pearl was recently discovered in a Tegillarca granosa (Linnaeus, 1758), which was purchased from a market in Singapore , and herein reported. This is probably the first published report of a spherical pearl from Tegillarca granosa . The cause of pearl formation remains unknown.

Situated at the crossroads of the Indian and Pacific Oceans , Southeast Asia is home to a rich and diverse malacofauna. Occasional Molluscan Papers ( OMP ) began life in 2008 to fulfil the need for a publication outlet for papers on the malacology of the Sundaland region (see below). In 2010, a second volume was published. After a four-year hiatus, OMP is back with a new look and feel. Submissions will continue to be peer-reviewed, and articles will remain free-to-download. There will also be...

The occurrence of several Amphidromus species from Singapore is often mentioned in the literature (e.g., Laidlaw & Solem, 1961; Ho, 1995; Maassen, 2001). However there is scarcely mention of other genera in the family Camaenidae. At present, two camaenid genera have been recorded from Singapore, namely Amphidromus and Trachia (see Chan, 1996; Tan & Woo, 2010). This article documents a recent sighting of a living Trachia pudica (Godwin-Austen, 1891) in Singapore. Although not a new...

Three species of intertidal bivalves belonging to the family Mesodesmatidae (commonly known as âwedge clamsâ) have had confirmed records (Morris & Purchon, 1982; Tan & Woo, 2010) from Singapore and is diagnosable on the grounds of shell morphology. They are Davila plana, Paphies striata and Coecella horsfieldii. This article aims to present the local mesodesmatids pictorially with some descriptive and ecological notes.

A new species of polymorphic arboreal snail belonging to the family Camaenidae is described from Sumba Island (East Nusa Tenggara), eastern Indonesia. Amphidromus (Syndromus) abbasi, new species, is diagnosable using shell morphology and closest congeners of the subgenus Syndromus, namely A. (S.) contrarius Müller, 1774 and A. (S.) filozonatus von Martens, 1867 are used for comparison.
